Mission Sunday

Sunday 14th October 2007

Reflection

This day Mission Sunday, a day when we renew our awareness of what it is to be baptized and to be ‘on a mission’ for life to proclaim the Gospel by word and deed. It is also a day when we pray for those who serve as missionaries throughout the world, offering them our support and encouragement.
Each person has a mission that is unique and distinctive but which forms part of a harmonious whole knitted together by the love of God. For, whether we live out our Christian vocation as a fire-fighter, lab technician, a homemaker, an office worker or a priest, our first vocation, our first mission is to love God and to love our neighbour as ourself.
