Reflection Beatitudes of Life

Jesus gives a very sobering message in the Gospel for this weekend. He lets his listeners know that his message will bring division between people and division within families. Not everyone will be willing to commit to the path of conversion that leads to peace and so we often experience a deep division between ourselves and others when it comes to questions of religious faith. But if we believe anything, we believe that through the prayers and sufferings of believers, offered up for those who do not believe, then God can and does work many miracles of grace in the lives of those who are unwilling to be converted and follow Christ. It is out of the experience of the cross, borne with love in each of our lives, that reconciliation and healing is enabled to take place.
