Reflection St Patrick
In preaching the Gospel to the People of Ireland, St Patrick, our National Apostle, encountered much opposition and many dangers. Yet he remained faithful. What gave him strength was the conviction that God was with him. He said “I give thanks to God who kept me faithful”. Patrick’s life of fidelity is an inspiration to us all. He shows us where our strength lies - in the Lord, our God. The faith Patrick preached was positive and life giving. It was also a faith that inspired sacrifice and service of others. Genuine faith is always like that. It expands the possibilities of human love and courage. It is the most important element in life. Only faith can answer the most profound questions of life. Let us pray that the lamp of faith Patrick lit may continue to illuminate our homes, our schools, our place of work, our parish and Diocese and that from here its light may go out like a beacon to make the world a brighter and happier place.
