Reflection St Patrick
In preaching the Gospel to the People of Ireland,
St Patrick, our National Apostle, encountered much
opposition and many dangers. Yet he remained faithful.
What gave him strength was the conviction that God
was with him. He said “I give thanks to God
who kept me faithful”. Patrick’s life
of fidelity is an inspiration to us all. He shows
us where our strength lies - in the Lord, our God.
The faith Patrick preached was positive and life giving.
It was also a faith that inspired sacrifice and service
of others. Genuine faith is always like that. It expands
the possibilities of human love and courage. It is
the most important element in life. Only faith can
answer the most profound questions of life. Let us
pray that the lamp of faith Patrick lit may continue
to illuminate our homes, our schools, our place of
work, our parish and Diocese and that from here its
light may go out like a beacon to make the world a
brighter and happier place.

The Community Safety Advisors Project aims
to reduce the fear of crime among elderly and vulnerable
adults in Co Fermanagh. Volunteers visit individuals
in their own homes on a regular basis. They often
spend some time having a cup of tea and a chat and
can offer practical safety advice and reassurance.
We support volunteers on a on-going basis by providing
specific training for this project, travel expenses
and other assistance. Would you like to become a volunteer
and help someone in your area. (Even half an hour
a week of y our time can improve the quality of a
person’s life.) Are you already providing this
service and would like some support? Are you feeling
vulnerable and would like someone to visit you? If
the answer to any of these questions is yes then we
would like to hear from you. For more information
please contact Martina at Fermanagh Volunteer Centre,
