Reflection This is Holy Week
The Church invites us to leave all else aside and enter the tragedy of Christ’s passion and death. Attend the Church’s Liturgy this week. Only here will we learn what perfect love is and does. Only here will we see true freedom. Only here will we see tragedy transformed, death overthrown and evil overcome by pure, unflinching love. This is truly Holy Week. Here is the source of holiness. Jesus will pour into our hearts all we need to make our lives holy.

Holy Week – An Invitation
We hear it said that “Christmas is for children”. If that is so, then Holy Week and Easter are “the grown up” feasts of the year. Being ‘grown up’ , means that we have responsibilities, worries, cares. We have questions about pain, sorrow, love and life that look for an answer.

Jesus didn’t come to give handy answers to our questions but to give a meaning to our lives. He knows the dark areas of our lives because he was there before us. At Easter he shines the light of his Resurrection on that dark.

His story of pain, sorrow, loss and death is our story. His resurrection is our hope. So we ask you to bring your troubles, your hopes, sadness and joy to the ceremonies of Holy Week.

Together we will walk the road to Calvary with him. Together we will listen as he gives his word of love, his promise of happiness. Together we will renew our own promises to love him and each other.

Holy Week is a special week for you personally and for all of us as a community in St Michael’s Parish. We look forward to sharing it with you.

With this week’s Messenger we include an insert giving details of all the ceremonies.

Holy Saturday Night (7th April)
A Bus will run through Cornagrade (8.15pm) Kilmacormick and Hillview to arrive at St Michael’s for 9.00pm ceremonies and bring people home afterwards.
